FGC handles fine handmade basses
SOLD 1995 Rick Turner Handmade 4-string Bass
George Michael Biondo of Steppenwolf came to us recently with two basses that need to find new homes. I believe there are no accidents in life. FGC has quietly been preparing a fitting entry into the "Fine Bass" category for almost 2 years. This bass (another will be listed soon) marks our debut into the category in a reverant way. It was as emotional an experience to see and play this bass as it was for George to turn loose of it. Click here to read George's own words describing the instrument. This is a Semi acoustic with figured dark Indian Rosewood back & sides. The wood marquetry down the back's center looks like a spiral ribbon of red and blonde against a black background. Special black painted, recessed bolts mirror the diamond shape of the magnetic pickup on the front. This warm sounding pickup is set into a bookmatched Western Red Cedar top. 4 individual piezos in an 18-volt (thank you!) blending configuration cover much tonal territory. Thoughtful, ergonomic design coupled with science from Turner's bench, add up to a stunning result in a bass that weighs in at only 6 lbs.! The condition is as close to perfect as you will ever see.

2000 Pat Wilkins PJ 4-string Chambered Electric Bass
George Michael Biondo of Steppenwolf came to us recently with two basses that need to find new homes. This is the second piece he put in our hands. "Precision" is the body shape; and an attribute of Pat Wilkins' work. We have placed handmade electrics with clients over the years, and they always remark at how thoughtfully designed Pat's guitars are, and how wonderful they feel from a player's point of view. Though many professional artists play Wilkins guitars, you can enjoy the benefits even if you are a home enthusiast.
